We will be warming up a little for the next few days, and let me tell you, it is a welcome trend. I love seeing the new green grass, the baby calves and sheep, and hearing the songs of the different birds busily making their nests in preparation for their new families. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s good to be alive!
I do have some unfortunate news, though. We are canceling our Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser planned for Friday, April 25. It appears that another group, the PTSA, is planning a carnival at the fairgrounds that same evening.
In a small town, it is challenging to succeed when different fundraisers are going on simultaneously without anyone outside our community attending, especially in these economic times. People must choose which groups they will support with their hard earned money.
Hells Canyon Days is successful for many groups because of the outside money and people who are drawn to the area by the activities promoted by the Cambridge Commercial Club, but you know how all of this works so I won’t belabor the point any longer.
We had fun at our BINGO game Last Thursday evening. The snacks were delicious, and It was nice to go home before dark. The winner of our blackout game left $90 richer! (It’s the only game kids under 18 aren’t allowed to play.) Our next BINGO game is scheduled for the first Thursday in May, which is also the first day of May!
This must be the season of inspections. The Health Department came by on the 4th of April, and our dietitian will be here this Wednesday, April 9. The Idaho Commission on Aging nutrition specialist will be here next Wednesday, April 16. There’s never a dull moment around here.
This coming Wednesday, April 16, is our food pantry’s day. If the dishes are done on time, we will serve the seniors at 1:30 and then the community at large. The pantry closes at 3:00 p.m..
