2024 Fosdick Awards Dinner

On Saturday, October 12, twelve award recipients of grants from The Fosdick were honored at a dinner at the Meadowcreek Clubhouse. The Fosdick raises money for community organizations each year at their golf tournament and dinner. Next year they will celebrate the 40th annual celebration and fundraiser and hope to reach a total of one million dollars raised for the community within the next few years.
During the event, a representative from each organization came up to accept their check and talk about what the money would be used for. A total of $37,443 was requested via applications for grants from the Fosdick and $48,000 in disbursements were given thanks to the generosity of donations and participants in events earlier this year.
An award honoring this year’s Friends of the Fosdick was given to Lea and the late Bob Linville. Corby Dickey put together a photo and story honoring the Linvilles and friends and family gave speeches sharing stories about the couple to honor them. The Linvilles began building a new home in Kimberland Meadows, now MeadowCreek, after a real estate sign caught their attention while they were in town celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary. Bob would say their home in MeadowCreek was their “heaven on earth”.
In 1985, through a series of circumstances, Bob and Lea met Tom and Mona LaFay and had what many now refer to as the first Fosdick. Lea Linville has been involved in almost every job in the Fosdick organization, including treasurer and has played in the Fosdick golf tournament in all but one of its 39 years. Dickey’s story noted “when Bob passed into his next adventure, his memorial donations were given to the Fosdick…and passed on to the Adams County Historical Society, who used it to create the flagpole in front of the Depot building in his memory and four other pioneer families.”
The event dinner was catered by Miss Kitty’s Pizza and Such. Veggie and fruit trays were made available from Albertson’s grocery store in McCall.
The Fosdick Golf Tournament events take place annually on the first weekend in August. Interested parties can visit fosdickgolf.com for more information about participation in upcoming events.
