This picture of Cuprum was taken after the smelter was moved to near the bottom of the Kleinschmidt Grade or the other side of the river near Homestead. After it was moved, a boarding house was moved as an addition to the hotel.

Steam boilers and winch that sit just above the Peacock Mine today.

1896 – 1897

In 1897 Council Valley people held a big Independence Day celebration near Camp Creek, about a mile northeast of town, where they posed for this picture. The Weiser Signal said a large procession ‘marched to a pleasant grove near Harrison Camp’s. The grounds had been previously prepared with platform, seats and tables.’
