A Busy Autumn in the Upper Country
On Friday, October 6, Council celebrated Fall and the end of the growing season with the final Farmers Market of the season. Traditionally one of the biggest markets of the year, this market was no exception, with a large assortment of vendors and informational booths. Vendors dressed up in costumes and decorated their tables for the season and children dressed up as well and trick or treated the different vendors. There was music, games, and pumpkins galore. Everyone had a wonderful time!
The next day, New Meadows celebrated their last Farmers market of the season with a Harvest Festival as well. It was a great end to the season for both markets, but not the last of the fall and Halloween festivities!
This coming weekend, on Saturday Oct. 14th from 12-7:00 p.m., will be the second annual Harvest Festival at the McKee Arena Outdoor Event Center, just outside of Cambridge. Last year was the kick off for this event, and despite a chill winter wind, it drew a large crowd and was lots of fun! This year should be even better (and hopefully a little warmer) and will feature many free family activities, including carnival games, a bounce house and crafts. There will also be hay rides, a hay maze, a spooky hollow, and a craft and vendor fair! The whole event is benefitting the Tri-Valley Titan Athletics.
Finally, on the night of Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31st, The University of Idaho Adams County Extension office, partnering with the Council Chamber of Commerce and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, will be hosting a Halloween Festival at City Heritage Park in Council. Kids will go Trunk or Treating with local businesses, and there will be games, a cake walk, a pet costume contest, and more! The event will run from 7:00-10:30 p.m. This Fall is shaping up to be one full of all sorts of spooky fun!
