A Lot Going on in New Meadows
It’s another beautiful season in Meadows Valley. The brilliant colors all around us remind us of the winter snow approaching! But that hasn’t slowed the momentum of our awesome community.
The Trunk or Treat on October 26th in the City Park was a great success. Thirteen “trunks” were parked around the perimeter of the park with the Library winning the prize for the best Trunk! It was awesome to hear the joy and laughter during the celebration.
The Summer Sack Lunch program has been extended to provide “Snack Lunches” to the preschool students at the school. Up to 18 lunches are provided each day and it has been great to see the program expand.
The City was host to a group of individuals from DEQ who toured the City’s Water and Wastewater facilities. A big thank you to Kirk Kundrick and Warren Drake for giving them a tour which highlighted the upgrades in the water system and the upcoming needs that will be addressed in the wastewater facility plan.
The New Meadows Farmer’s Market group did an amazing job this year and implemented great programs to benefit the community. They haven’t stopped working, even though the summer is over. They will be hosting a Holiday Market and Craft Fair on November 23rd at the Depot from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
If you drive down Peterson Memorial, you will see great changes happening to the old Heartland Recycling building. The whole building was raised about 7 feet and footers and stem walls have been poured. The building will be set down this week and framing will start. This Childcare/Preschool/Youth Center is such an exciting project that will have tremendous impact on our community in many ways.
The Mehen Memorial Skate Park project has had two community meetings, both of which were well attended, and filled with input from the participants on their ideas for a great skate park. Next step is the design review with City Council to prepare for construction next spring.
The Fosdick Golf Tournament gave out another awesome round of funds this year to benefit our community. From the library and school to the depot and Youth Advocacy Coalition, the Fosdick has supported organizations in our community with funds that really make a difference. A huge thank you to all those who make that event possible.
The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will take place at the Methodist Church Ed Building this year from 1 to 4:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. It’s free and the food is tasty! May your holidays be filled with joy and a thankful heart!
