A Wonderful Day to Wrap up the New Meadows Farmers Market
It was a foggy morning on Saturday, October 7, in New Meadows. But the sun came out in time to have a magnificent and warm Fall Festival at Dorsey Warr Memorial Park in downtown New Meadows. Being the last day for the farmer’s market for the year, there were many, many booths set up.
For the Birds by Tana was back with her amazing birdhouses. Debbie Barnett was displaying her lovely paintings on some very creative surfaces and selling locally grown produce. Klaryssa Keane had a lot of products from what used to be Usbourne Books, but the company has changed their name to Paper Pie! Local Honey was being sold by Cathy Marvin, who won the prize for the best decorated booth! Julia Olson had freeze dried candy, and more. Tracy Osborne was there with her Creekside Signs & Wood having hand painted and wood burnt signs and other wooden pieces. Doug and Sherry Ward from Wards Wood & Wool had items such as warm stocking caps and beautiful decoratively painted wooden boxes. Mtn. Roots Orchard was represented by Marlana and Scott Schleuning, Jake Reeve, and Guatum Komminani with apple butter, fresh cider and an apple press pressing cider throughout the day! Some vendors have little left to sell, like Kyle and Juanita Belnap’s Sawdust & Ribbons stand. Kyle was down to two of his wooden creations because they sold so well during the summer. He’ll be stocking back up during the winter and have a whole new collection for next summer. Mehen Memorial Skate Park group was on site selling souvenirs including t-shirts and caps. Flowers of remembrance for Rory and Sara Mehen can be placed at the front fence of the Hartland Inn until October 15th. Nikki Anderson attended the festival with all of her fun card making essentials and baked items. Bronwen Baker was back with wonderful homemade and custom stickers. Craig Baker was selling a variety of popcorn products for Boy Scouts of America to help defray the cost of a trip to Yellowstone Park next summer. Bartlett Carpenter along with his family were selling pears, apples, pumpkins, peppers, grapes and squash grown right here in Meadows Valley. New Meadows Parks & Rec had several things happening. They were selling chili, hot dogs, chips, drinks, had a craft station set up for kids and were having a bake sale! Many booths had kids’ games set up like cornhole, ring toss and bean bag toss. Bronwen Baker, the sticker creator, was painting faces and there was even a big Jenga game and a bounce house!
The young ones got tickets for winning the games and got to spend them at a prize booth! There were also cake walks taking place throughout the day for kids and adults. In addition to all of this, you could buy some Gypse Haus Mead and listen to the music of Lowell Jackling. It was an awesome day!
