Adams County Announces Public Review Period for Hazard Plan Update
Adams County Emergency Management started a public review and comment period for the updated Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Beginning March 22, 2024, the draft can be viewed online on the Adams County official website (www.co.adams.id.us). A paper copy of the draft will be held in reserve at the Adams County Courthouse for review. This public review and comment period will end on April 5, 2024. Please send all comments to the email address listed below.
The purpose of the public review period is to give residents of Adams County and interested parties an opportunity to review a draft of the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan update. Individuals are encouraged to ask questions or submit comments to Adams County Emergency Management (see contacts listed below)
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires counties to update this plan regularly to remain eligible for federal funding for hazard mitigation projects. The plan addresses natural hazards of concern in Adams County like flood, earthquake, landslide, severe weather, wildland fire, crop damage, and extended power outage. The plan explores how these hazards affect Adams County communities, assesses risk and vulnerability, and examines ways to mitigate the hazards.
Once a final draft of the plan is agreed upon by the planning team and reviewed by all pertinent parties, it will be submitted to the Idaho Office of Emergency Management and FEMA for approval, then adopted through official resolution.
