The Adams County Republican Central Committee and this newspaper co-hosted a candidate forum ahead of the primary election on May 19 at Council Elementary School. The event was moderated and kept on schedule by Camille Collings.

Republican candidates for Adams County Commissioner District 2, Clerk, Asessor and Coroner were in attendance and took questions from the audience. Also in attendance was Joe Iveson, running unopposed for County Commissioner District 1 and Brian Joyce who took a few questions at the end regarding the proposed levy for Council Schools. You can read a Q&A with Joyce on the levy in last week’s issue.

First up were the Coroner candidates Anastasia Slack and Wendy Mott. They were followed by candidates for Assessor, Farrah Ball and Kala Nichols. Tara Horton and Tara Dahl, candidates for Clerk, next took questions followed by an intermission.

After the intermission the time focused on the two candidates for County Commissioner District 2 - incumbent Daren Ward and challenger Kyle Johnson.

From my perspective (not on stage) the questions were pointed, but respectful. About 80 people were in attendance.

Our April 29 issue will have statements from each of these candidates with their best argument as to why you should vote for them. Please visit voteidaho.gov or call the county Clerk’s office with any questions you have about voting, registering to vote or viewing sample ballots for this election.
