The good news concerning the Midvale Lee Williams Airport, is that it will indeed be receiving a new asphalt runway and parking area. This fall, thanks to the efforts of Idaho Materials bringing rock, and local businesses and individuals pitching in with labor and equipment, the runway now has base layer and can remain open. Some of those involved were MTE, the county, Craig Excavation and others. Councilman Fred Bruce said that there has been 900 yards of material laid down. The extra expense to finish the paving will be paid for by an additional grant from Idaho Division of Aeronautics and a generous donation from someone who wishes to remain anonymous. The paving will be done next spring.

Several items were approved by the council at its Monday meeting. A new water meter will be installed for a lot on School Road. The owner is moving a house in from Nampa that should arrive Wednesday morning. It will be moved during the night Monday and Tuesday. Shannon Williams requested a letter from the city that will aid in the sale of her property on Bonner Road. Katlyn Hochstrat requested permission to install concrete curbing around the park play area and the placement of mulch inside of that. The project will be paid for by donations to the Community Partners who are doing the project planning. Concrete will be donated by Midvale Sand & Gravel and labor by Vogel.

Also approved was the city’s Annual Appropriation Ordinance 2024-02. Listed were General fund of $219,441, Water fund $171,714 and Airport $698,409.

The park has had Farmers’ Markets every Wednesday evening and will continue through October. It will also be used by the Swim Pool board to host the Fall Festival October 26.

At the November meeting, clerk Mariah Johnson will present the liquor permits and the end of fiscal year total expenditures/budget.

The next regular meeting will be November 11 at 7:00 p.m..
