Another sign of growth in the city of Midvale is the application for building permits. Appearing at the regular city council meeting Monday evening was the entire Powers family, including two children, with an application to build a home at 85 School Road. They are planning on finishing out an existing pole barn on the property into a living space. Included with their application were detailed drawings of the proposed home and property. The council gladly approved it.

A few items were discussed but no action was taken. Falling tree limbs that cause property damage to others is the responsibility of the tree owner. There is currently a settlement between a property owner and the owner of a damaged vehicle regarding a falling limb. The council also will be examining the county dog ordinance which will need to be adopted before the county can be called in the deal with a current abundance of dogs. The Christmas lights in the park are still there and someone needs to put them away. Shelly Graham spent last weekend storing some of them in the old jail, but there are still a lot left.

The airport paving project will be addressed when the weather is more favorable and drier. The council approved the purchase of a new toilet for city hall since new flooring is being installed.

City clerk Mariah Johnson will be attending the Association of Idaho Cities (AIC) meeting in Star on April 13. They will discuss any actions by the legislature that might effect city governments.

The next regular meeting of the council will be April 14 at 7:00 p.m..
