Easter morning dawned clear and calm for the believers who gathered at the rest stop on Midvale Hill to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Pastors from various churches lead the service which included reading the Easter story from the Bible, prayers and music. The crowd sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “He Lives.”

A dynamic reading and teaching of the passage addressing disciples walking to Emmaus while talking to the risen Lord included sorrow, disappointment, surprise and great joy, ending with the men running in the dark back to Jerusalem.

The service ended at 7:30 just as the sun topped the eastern horizon. Donuts and coffee were provided by Love Inc. Breakfast was served at the Midvale Baptist Church and an egg hunt hosted by the Church of Christ was planned for the park after church services.
