Cambridge FFA holds Farm Safety Day

On October 1st, 97 elementary school students from Cambridge, Midvale, and Council traveled to the Washington County Fairgrounds for Cambridge FFA’s Farm Safety Day, sponsored by the Simplot Company and St. Luke’s.
The students were divided into groups and assigned FFA members as group leaders. The groups rotated through 12 different stations: Fire/Ambulance, presented by Cambridge Fire and EMS; iROAM, presented by Idaho Rangeland Resource Commission (Melanie Mosekian) and FFA member Kellan Moura; Animal Safety, presented by Dr. Walker from the Weiser Veterinary Clinic; Chemical Safety, presented by FFA members Hunter Hastie and Cloe Russell; ATV Safety, presented by Nick Loveland and FFA member Eric Loveland; Farm Equipment and PTO Safety, presented by Lee Nichols and FFA member Jace Mink; Electrical Safety, presented by Idaho Power; Bicycle Safety, presented by members Bridger Miller and MacKe Nichols; Hunting/Gun, presented by Washington County Deputies; Healthy Lifestyles, presented by members Haven Harley and Quinn Hoskins; Water Safety, presented by Washington County Deputies; The Army National Guard, presented by Ian Walker SFC, IDARNG.
At each station, the kids learned important safety skills and got “take homes” to remind them of the importance of safety. Students each received new bicycle helmets at the bicycle station, sponsored by St. Luke’s Children’s. Snack and the meal for lunch was donated by: Idaho Apple Commission, Falls Brand Meats, Cambridge FFA, and Simplot. At the conclusion of the day all of the student’s names were entered into a drawing for a new bicycle, one to a girl and one to a boy. Alaina Wiseman and Alvin Fortin were the lucky winners!
A special thank you to Simplot and St. Luke’s for making this day possible for the Cambridge FFA Chapter to put together. Also thank you all of those who came and presented, we couldn’t make this day possible without each and every one of you.
