Cambridge Happenings in July

The Cambridge Library’s summer reading program is underway. Kids have been learning about rocks and stars for the past two weeks, creating their own miniature constellation lanterns. They have also been working diligently on group projects that will be put to a vote by library users. Remember to swing by and cast your vote for the one you like most. Every third Saturday of the month, the library hosts story hour as well, and the summer version of “Blind Date with a Book” will soon be available at the library.
On Saturday, July 13th, Cambridge residents were warned via Facebook that Idaho Power was conducting a Public Safety Power Shutdown in the region from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., which could affect up to 75 customers. This was due to high winds and the risk of a fire. With record heat in July, many individuals and business owners were concerned. Fortunately, the weather forecast in the area improved, thus Power Safety Shutoff was no longer required.
Better news: the parents, kids, and staff at Elementary have paid off in large amounts for their commitment and hard work. Based on early literacy testing, or IRI, Cambridge Elementary School was found to be the best small and rural school in the state. For the fourth year running, they have achieved over 80% proficiency. To all of you, congratulations!
On July 18th Cambridge Elementary School hosted the 2nd annual Tri-Valley Community & Youth CO-OP Summer BBQ. This is a resource event for families in the area. Their mission is to improve the overall health and wellness of the community by providing access to health-related information and resources. Such as suicide awareness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and more. It was a wonderful evening full of family fun and resource knowledge. To learn more you can visit their website at trivalleycoop.com or email them at trivalleycoop@gmail.com.
Coming up, on Thursday, July, 25th Idaho PTA President Alexis Morgan will be coming to Cambridge High School. Come with your questions and hear about how Idaho PTA is advocating for our kids. Alexis Morgan is the voice at the legislative level. Being a part of your kid’s PTA or PTSA is important for your children. The invitation is extended to everyone. Exact times will be posted soon so keep a look out on local Facebook pages.
Don’t forget Washington County Fair is almost here. Starting July 29th - August 3rd.
