Carter Closing Shop - Temporarily
On a recent trip back to his hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Carter Cutlery owner Murray Carter arrived to find his parents a few years older and quite a bit less independent than they were the last time they met. At 91, Murray’s father recently contracted Lyme’s Disease and his Mom, at 85 is starting to suffer memory loss. The situation made Carter decide to temporarily close up the knife shop in Council, as of September 31 of this year, so that he can return to his parents in Canada and provide assistance for them.
Carter states his intention is to return to Council and reopen the knife shop for business when he is able. Due to the nature of the situation, that could be anywhere between 15 months and 15 years. Says Carter,
“I am very sad to leave Council; it is truly a wonderful place to work and live. The folks here are so easy-going and cheerful. The mountains and the climate are the best I have ever experienced. I will look forward to coming home in the future.”
Adjacent to Carter Cutlery, the Baker’s Pantry will continue business as usual, and the small storage units that are behind the knife shop will be monitored and managed by the Baker’s Pantry staff.
