Congratulations Kaye for 33 Years of Business!

After 33 years in business, Kaye has retired. In 1979, Kaye signed up for a tole painting class in McCall. After 5 lessons she bought a few books and started painting on her own. She was working at the hospital at that time and was taking her paintings to work to show. Someone asked if she taught, so she decided to try it. Kaye set up a little store in her home in Fruitvale and named her business “Paintin Place.” The house was very small and several miles from town. She moved her classes to the Council Public Library meeting room and taught there for several years.
In 1991, she moved to Cambridge and needed a place to work and hang her art. She opened a gallery in a small 600 square foot building (currently Creed Noah Real Estate) and changed the business name to Heartland Studio. After 3 years, her business was bursting at the seams. When the building at 65 North Superior Street became available in 1994, she took a huge leap of faith and purchased it. After some extensive renovations, she was able to move in that September, with a frame shop and classroom in the back. This building has offered a lot of local artists and crafters a place to display and sell their works. 170 consignors have come and gone over the years with everything from antiques to used books, bicycle repair, woodwork, jewelry, saddles, and too many other items to list.
Good luck on your next adventures, Kaye!
