Council Falls to Kamiah

1A Council traveled to 2A Kamiah for a nonconference game Friday.
After a slow start that saw Council fall behind 24-0, the Lumberjacks began to pound the ball inside, almost exclusively running the ball and wearing the Kubs down over the next three quarters. They slowly clawed their way back and were driving deep in Kamiah territory to potentially close the gap to a single score but fumbled and ultimately ran out of time. A JV fumble on the last play of the game that was returned for a touchdown allowed Kamiah to close out the game with a 44-16 victory. However, the game appeared to most in attendance to feel much closer than the final score.
Decker McLinn led all tacklers with 7, followed by Owen Hatfield (6.5) and Wade Vining (5). Owen Hatfield led the rushing attack with 73 yards on 14 carries (1 TD). Garrison Zielinski added a great 38-yard touchdown catch for the Lumberjacks.
