On Saturday, May 11, several students from Council Jiu Jitsu Academy traveled to Boise to compete in the American Grappling Federation’s (AGF) 2024 Boise Jiu Jitsu Championships at Expo Idaho. The AGF was established in 2011 and is an international tournament. 34 different Jiu Jitsu academies in Idaho were represented at the tournament. Of these 34 established academies, Council Jiu Jitsu Academy ranked 14 only one year after starting!
15 Year old Naddy Lyttle dominated her match in the teen/heavy division, accumulating points and submitting her opponent with a wonderfully executed arm bar. Her brother, Jesse Lyttle, was moved up a rank higher, but still managed to keep his stance and gain the team points while grappling with an experienced wrestler. Bryson Soso and Travis Lyttle were in the same bracket and both won their first matches in a dominating fashion. They brought home Gold and Silver for The Academy in the Pre Teen Featherweight division. Tessa Lyttle and Rozlee Soso had hard fought matches and competed fiercely, gaining points for the team. The experience they gained will prepare them well for the next tournament. Julia Lyttle’s first tournament was as a white belt in the Master’s division. She dominated with technique and pressure and gained the team another gold!
For Kids Gi out of 24 Academies, Council Jiu Jitsu Academy ranked 8th overall. For Adult Gi out of 20 Academies, Council ranked 8th. Coach and founder of Council Jiu Jitsu Academy, Anna Cook was incredibly proud of all of her students and can’t wait to take them to the next tournament!
