Council Loggers Jubilee Announces 2026 Scholarship Recipients

The Council Loggers Jubilee continued its long tradition of supporting Adams County’s youth and community organizations by awarding several scholarships in 2026. Funded through sponsorships, donations, and the auctioning of Jubilee contestants, these scholarships reflect the Jubilee’s mission to uplift the logging community, encourage trades-based education, and strengthen local programs that serve residents across the county.

Youth Scholarship Recipients

Owen Hatfield

Council High School senior Owen Hatfield was recognized for his academic achievement, leadership, and deep involvement in the logging community. Hatfield has competed in Jubilee events for the past two years and participated in Orofino Lumberjack Days, gaining hands-on experience in traditional logging competitions. His commitment to service includes annual highway cleanup, volunteering as a youth sports referee, and contributing to the community through National Honor Society and FFA. Hatfield also works full-time summers in construction, building valuable trade experience. He plans to pursue a career in commercial aviation, military service, or the construction trades.

Sara Conaway

Sara Conaway earned a youth scholarship for her strong commitment to community involvement, school leadership, and her future in kinesiology and athletic training. Conaway participates in National Honor Society’s annual highway cleanup from Mill Creek to the Y and serves in ASB, helping plan school events that bring students and families together. She has been active in volleyball, basketball, and track, and when an injury ended her senior season, she stepped up as a stand-in coach to support her team. Conaway has shadowed athletic trainers, assisted at local rodeos, and plans to attend Boise State University to continue her training.

Community Scholarship Recipients

Council School District Athletic Advisory Committee (CSCAAC)

CSCAAC was selected for its decade of service supporting K12 athletics and strengthening community engagement through sports. The committee has secured grants to improve the track, facilitated a full remodel of the high school gymnasium, and provided essential equipment for boys and girls sports programs. Their involvement extends beyond facilities — they run the Council Lumberjacks Facebook page, organize youth flag football, and maintain strong partnerships with coaches, administrators, and families. Scholarship funds will help CSCAAC continue expanding athletic opportunities and community centered programming.

Adams County Fair Board

The Adams County Fair Board received a scholarship for its longstanding commitment to youth livestock programs, leadership development, and community events that bring families together. The fair teaches responsibility, hard work, and financial skills through livestock sales and project involvement. Last year’s Jubilee support helped to fund a sprinkler system north of the sale arena, improving the grounds for public use. This year’s scholarship will help expand grassy areas and continue fairground improvements that benefit exhibitors and visitors alike.

Council Youth Coalition

The Council Youth Coalition was recognized for its work promoting youth engagement, mental wellness, and community connection. The coalition organizes family events, youth activities, dances, and fundraisers that bring residents together. The coalition has launched a community needs assessment to gather input on future development, including exploring a community center to serve as a hub for youth programs and family gatherings. Scholarship funds will support expanded youth leadership opportunities, mental health awareness efforts, and continued collaboration with local partners.

Adams County Health Action Team (ACHAT)

ACHAT focuses on improving mental health awareness and reducing stigma across Adams County. Their work includes partnering with local organizations to host events such as the Courage to Connect Walk, which brings together service providers, recovery programs, peer support groups, and wellness resources. ACHAT collaborates with groups like the Youth Advocacy Coalition, Ignite Idaho Family Resource Center, and Courage to Connect to strengthen community support networks. Scholarship funds will help ACHAT expand outreach and mental health programming throughout the county.
