Dancers enjoyed music from The Sheep Bridge Jumpers at the Council Mountain Music Festival on August 17th.

Music and the scents of delicious vendor treats filled the air at the Veterans Memorial Peace Park in Council over the weekend of August 16 & 17.

The 22nd annual festival saw a few changes, due to the presence of the fire camp that occupied all of the fair and rodeo grounds. The property owners just south of the park generously allowed parking there, and the entrance was changed to that side of the park.

With the hiring of two nationally-touring bands, this year the budget for the festival was more than double any previous year. The headliner Friday night was Tylor & The Train Robbers, an Idaho-based band that tours all over the U.S. Saturday night featured the Jeff Crosby band. Jeff is a native of Donnelly and also tours all over the nation.

Admission was by donation in previous years, but an admission was charged this year. Even though admission was significantly below what is charged at most music festivals, attendance was low.

The festival would like to thank the George McCready Foundation, American Legion Post 72, The Veterans Memorial Peace Park, and several private individuals for generous donations to the festival. Also, thank you to the businesses that boosted the music festival by advertising in The Record Reporter. The Council Cultural Arts Committee, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit registered with the State of Idaho, so contributions may be tax deductible.

Plans are already being made for the 2025 festival. Anyone who is interested in joining the team putting it together is more than welcome.
