Council Rodeo Grand Marshal Dan Huter Greets Crowd

by Lauren Harris, Council Correspondent
The Council Rodeo Board named Dan Huter as Rodeo Grand Marshal this year. It was a great choice and Heather Paradis of the Council Rodeo Board said that, “He was an excellent candidate! The board couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”
They chose Dan because of the commitment and hard work that he has continually given to the community for so many years. He coaches basketball, volunteers at the school, plus so much more, and he is just a really giving guy.
They also feel that Dan is the face of the local EMT office and always makes sure the rodeo is well covered for any unforeseen incidents. They realize that this is a team effort and many people help by being available at the rodeo each year, but they wanted to acknowledge him this time for his knowledge and all of his hard work over the last 40 plus years.
Dan has been one of the EMT team members covering the Council Rodeo every year since he started 44 years ago. Each crew has three members that dedicate their time to helping our community be safe.
Dan was also presented a Grand Marshal buckle to commemorate this honor. “This is a very nice honor but this really is a team operation, it’s not just me. We all strive to do our best.” He also explained that as EMTs their main focus and concern is with being able to help people so that if something happens they can do their best to help them immediately.
Dan also mentioned that the board should be proud of the rodeo this year. He said that he feels this years rodeo was one of the best he has attended due to good organization, everything running on time, the announcer and the support he had, and it was really well attended. From the viewpoint of an EMT, he also noticed and really appreciated all the efforts that the Rodeo Board made to keep unattended kids out of potentially hazardous areas. He said, “The Board should be proud of this years rodeo.”
