Council School BoardHS Girls Locker Room Expansion
The Council School District held a board meeting on November 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Council High School. Board chair Bob Grossen, Julie Pate and Shawn Stanford were present. Melissa Roundtree was participating by phone. Superintendent Mike Howard was also present.
The administrative report was presented by Superintendent Mike Howard. He stated that the safety grants that the district recently applied for were approved. Mike Howard also mentioned that he picked up a number of food boxes from the United Way of Treasure Valley for needy families in the area.
The Treasurer’s report was presented by District Clerk Mindy Ivey. The primary item of business was the need for a more clearly defined process and policy for staff to use the district credit card. Mindy is working on a draft policy for this.
The board then went into executive session for about an hour. After re-convening, the board took the following actions:
-Approved the application for early graduation from one student.
-Approved the expansion of the girls locker room. This will roughly mirror the boys football locker room. Both are under the gym in the high school. Cost was expected to be less than $800. This is just a first phase for now to give Girls teams the same space as the boys. Work will be completed by District maintenance staff Royce Bauer.
-Approved the renewal of the current IT contract through the end of the District’s current fiscal year. This contract is currently held by Council Computers. Those present noted that response times were quick and they were happy with Council Computers.
-Discussion of Policy 3400 was tabled until the next board meeting. This policy defines the drug testing program for particiapating in extra-curricular activities
-Discussion of the Athletic Director’s job description was tabled until the next board meeting as well.
