On May 21st residents of the Council School District will have the choice to approve or deny a 2-year, $260,000 levy ($130,000 per year). The projected cost of this levy is $28.40 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. According to the Adams County Assessor’s office, the 2023 median market value of homes in Adams County was $308,401.

According to information provided by Mike Howard, the current District Superintendent, this levy is to provide an aide for each classroom. These aides assist the teachers with daily work such as light administrative tasks, to helping students organize daily work to playground supervision. Mr. Howard states that this assistance allows the teacher to focus on their primary task which is teaching.

Additionally, this levy will help fund an instructional assistant at the High School to assist those students who need a bit of extra academic help as well as an on-site technology support person that will work with the entire district.

Council School District has asked for, and the voters have approved, this 2 year levy every other year since 2012. When this levy was put to voters in 2022 it was for $85,000 per year for 2 years - $170,000 total.
