Council Students Decorate Pumpkins for Halloween Contest

When Taylor Shelton, an aide at Council Elementary, was in high school in Eagle she participated in a school wide pumpkin decorating contest and had a blast. This year, she decided it needed to be a part of Council’s Halloween tradition so she introduced the idea. The students and staff were on board.
The majority of the students participated and all of them were very creative. After the pumpkins were laid out on display, each class was able to walk down the hall and vote for their top three favorites. There was anything from movie popcorn, to a witch’s cauldron, a scary bat, an M&M, a witch complete with a top hat, Baby Yoda, rainbow colored and much, much, more.
Shelton believes it was a great success! “I just wanted to say thank you! I know the kids just loved every second of this activity!” Pat Griffin, Elementary Principal and District Superintendent, expressed appreciation to Shelton and commented that it was a great event. Carissa Harley, secretary, felt that it “added special Halloween magic to the day.” The kids were elated.
A special thank you to Trista Robbins and M&W Market for getting 168 pumpkins donated so each student was able to participate. And of course a very special thank you to Wade Bonner from Midvale for donating all these pumpkins.
The following are the winners of this year’s Halloween Pumpkin Decorating contest:
