Council Chamber of Commerce's new logo

What’s in a logo anyway? Fame? Prestige? Honor? Personality? Your average porcupine?

Council Chamber of Commerce just wanted a sense of community pride in their logo. Something that really states, “Council Chamber of Commerce.” How hard can that be anyway? Just mix together Council, Commerce, and don’t forget the porcupine. Nothing says commerce in Council as well as a porcupine.

They have had a logo that seemed to be holding it’s own for several years, but alas, times change, Chamber presidency and board members change, and logos need to be updated to keep up with our amazing and evolving community. It just seemed like it was time to retire the logo.

So, they posted a logo design competition on their Facebook page hoping to get some new ideas. And they did get some new ideas! Thirty-two new design ideas were submitted. The design contest ran from March 1st to April 15th. Katie Church, Council Chamber of Commerce President, said, “The Chamber just appreciates the support of the community. The different ages in the entries was amazing and every entry was appreciated.”

Casey Hunt won the logo design competition! Casey and her husband, Daniel, have lived in Mesa for a couple of years now and are from Middleton and the Treasure Valley area. They met on match.com and after finding each other in the Treasure Valley area, falling in love and getting married, they wanted to find some property and start a farm. It seems only logical that they would choose a beautiful place like Mesa to start building their dream life together. Casey also works for Adams County as the IT Director.

Casey saw the Facebook posting for the new logo design and had recently created a logo for their farm, so she felt she had the spunk to create the right commerce/porcupine feel and her competitive side jumped in.

She knew from the stated rules that the design should be of her own ideas and creation and it needed to include a porcupine, but more than that, she decided to take some time and research the Council Chamber of Commerce web page. She was specifically looking for things that seemed important to them so that she could include those themes into her creation. She noticed that they had a patriotic theme going, especially since their annual big event is a celebration on the Fourth of July and she decided that the surrounding mountains also seem to represent Council. She brought all of those ideas together in one perfect Canva masterpiece to knock the socks off of the Chamber judges.

Casey’s design was so hot and fresh that it still had that new upgrade smell!

After the Chamber of Commerce put their socks back on, they awarded Casey with a $100 in prize money, a new T-Shirt with the logo on it, and of course, bragging rights when the 4th of July shirts come out sporting her design on them.

Casey is honored that her design was chosen. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and I am happy that they loved my design. I can’t wait to see it everywhere!”

Katie and the Chamber board members were all excited about this new logo design too. Katie shared, “We want to congratulate Casey Hunt. She did a fantastic job! We are excited to have this as our new logo and are very excited for this years Fourth of July T-shirts launching the new logo.”

Fourth of July T-shirts will be available, as always, on the 4th of July during all of the festivities. And if you see Casey around, give her a big “Hoorah!” and a pat on the back! You rock, Casey!!!

The Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting our local businesses as well as our community. Their information is Councilchamberofcommerce.com and Facebook.com/Councilidahochamberofcommerce.
