Cyclists Ride Through Council on WRT

The Friends of the Weiser River Trail held their June Fun Ride last Saturday. Pat Trainor, who organized the event, said that this year, 51 cyclists made the ride from the Wye Campground to either Council or Cambridge.
Thirty cyclists opted to finish in Council; Twenty-one cyclists went on to finish in Cambridge after they all had lunch at the Council Senior Center. Three cyclists were not able to finish.
Trainor drove the sag wagon and there were also two volunteers on ATV’s sweeping behind the riders to give anyone a lift who couldn’t make it.
From the Wye Campground to Mesa, cyclists rode into the wind; from there to Cambridge, the wind was at their backs, which always makes the ride easier.
Additionally two bicycle mechanics from Council rode along to fix any mechanical problems.
Trainor said three locals, one from New Meadows and two from McCall made the journey. He said the rest of the riders were from the Boise area.
