District Looking To Fill 3 Positions
At Monday’s regular school board meeting, Midvale superintendent Kylee Morris reported that there are currently three openings on the school staff. She will be advertising and searching to fill the bus supervisor position, middle/high school science teacher and elementary teacher. The board had voted earlier to create an additional elementary class which will give each grade its own teacher. There will be no double classes.
The Tri-Valley sports coop meeting will be on April 8. On the agenda will be a review of the programs and coaches. There may be some discussion of a baseball team. Also to be discussed will be individual program funding, including a possible cap on expenses. Trustee Mikek suggested a history of five years expenses to give a clearer picture of each program.
The legislature is still working on the education budget. They are discussing the supervision of four-day school weeks, with some confusion as to total hours required of staff and students. At Midvale the days are longer and teachers are expected to work two Fridays each month.
The deadline to spend ESSER (covid) funds will be coming soon. Kylee suggested buying a new van to replace the aging one if there is enough money left. The school currently has two: one for Jr. High sports and the second for extra curricular trips.
This spring the proctor for the required student tests will be Superintendent Morris. They are taken in the computer rooms, at the elementary and the high school.
Trustee Jake Mikek was approved to present diplomas at graduation. Also approved, was the hiring of Quest CPA for the independent audit. The school is on track with the current budget.
FCCLA and FFA will be attending state conventions in Boise and Twin Falls.
The next regular meeting will be April 22 at 7:00 p.m..
