Earthquake Shakes the Upper Country
A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Smith’s Ferry on Monday the 26th at about 10:26 in the morning.
The USGS shows the epicenter in the Tripod Peak area north of Smith’s Ferry and at a depth of 8.9 kilometers. At press time, six aftershocks have been recorded since the initial quake.
This recent earthquake was felt by many in the Upper Country area according to numerous Facebook comments.
On March 31st, 2020 a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck north of Stanley, Idaho. That quake was felt in this area as well. I felt both earthquakes and this one ‘felt’ stronger. However, my body is not a calibrated seismic sensor so take this with a grain of salt.
