Food for Fines and Fall Happenings

Jack-O-Lanterns filled the Meadows Valley Library for storytime on Wednesday, October 8. About 30 kids listened to Pick a Pumpkin by Patricia Toht and Little Boo by Stephen Wunderli, read by volunteer Marlene Clark. Children then created a lantern craft, complete with a small light, led by librarian Audrey Crogh. The next story time will have a Funny Face theme and will be held Wednesday, November 12 from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m..
Book Club is for people who like to read and discuss books in a relaxed environment. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. On November 5 the group will be discussing One Day by David Nicholls. New members are welcome anytime.
The annual ‘Food for Fines’ exchange program runs from Tuesday, October 14 through Friday, November 14. Over these dates, the library will accept non-perishable food donations as payment for fines on all overdue items. One grocery item will cover the fine for a single item returned late or overdue. There is no limit on the number or amount of fines that can be cleared or items that can be returned. The food collected will be given to the New Meadows Food Bank. Patrons without fines are welcome to participate by bringing donations to the library during this time period. Charges for lost, damaged, or unreturned items will not be included.
The library’s next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
The library’s current hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Winter hours will begin in November and will be Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
