Apple pickers showed up Friday at Kelly Orchards to gather apples for the Cambridge Bible Church missions team cider pressing.

A dedicated team of pickers and juicers showed up Friday and Saturday to help the Bible Church missions’ team produce 450 gallons of fresh cider. Friday was perfect weather for picking at Kelly Orchards. The owners graciously donated part of their orchards to the team for picking. Saturday was drizzly, but thanks to several canopies the team stayed relatively dry.

The cider press, provided by Luke Lyttle of Council, is designed to process tons of fruit. It is definitely meant for large operations with several people providing manpower.

The team has used the funds in the last year to provide help to Samaritians Purse for hurricane relief and to Grace Mission for a water project in Haiti. Former Cambridge residents Keith and Claudia Singer are directors of Grace Mission.

Fresh cider is still available for $7.50 a gallon. Phone Kris Jaeger at (208) 566-3244.
