Greetings From the Midvale Community Garden

We’re starting our garden preparations early this year thanks to the weather, our greenhouse and our amazing helpers. Dave and Deb Horn have given so much time and energy to our garden. Thank you! With that said, we can always use additional help. Digging in the dirt and helping flowers and vegetables grow is wonderful therapy, and volunteers benefit from the fresh vegetables and flowers. Volunteers can help with whatever is needed, or they can take on responsibility for a particular job or plot.
We have permanent beds of strawberries, asparagus, horseradish, rhubarb, chives and even Jerusalem artichokes. We’ll also have potatoes (of course), beans, tomatoes, peppers, squash, pumpkins, lots of flowers and whatever else we have room for.
We love gardening and giving back to the community. This year as in years past, we will be filling planters with flowers to be placed all around town as well. We will also have plants and vegetables available during the summer at the little visitor center at the entrance to Midvale.
We will be having our annual Spring Plant & Seed swap on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 a.m. in the garden, behind the Midvale fire station. Bring your plants, and seeds to trade or $5 to participate in this fun event. Houseplants, outdoor plants and even small trees are welcome. (Have your plants there by 9:45 a.m., please).
