“Free hot chocolate! Free hot chocolate!” Eleven Kindergartners and their teachers cheered customers at Brown’s Mountain Market this past Tuesday, January 20 with compliments, kindness, and free hot chocolate. Teacher Katie Wright’s annual community kindness outing was a warm ray of sunshine on a cold morning.

The students have been learning about kindness and spreading warmth and goodwill around their school and city this month. After learning about kindness and practicing with one another, the students made kindness cards to share with teachers, staff, and other students.

During Tuesday’s outing kids could be heard sharing compliments like “I like your shoes” and “You have a nice dress” as well as expressing gratitude saying, “Thank you for all you do!” Students passed cups of hot chocolate to Brown’s customers outside and went in the shop to say hello and thank you to the employees. They also spent time visiting employees and a customer at Idaho First Bank.

The Kindergartners shared their experiences spreading kindness in the community at the school’s Celebration of Learning event this past Thursday.
