Council Mini Bull Rider Raymond Walker placed 6th in the Yeti sponsored Junior World Finals Mini Bull competition held at the Wrangler Rodeo Arena in Las Vegas, on December 5th, for the 14 to 15 year old bracket. He said over thirty riders competed in his age bracket.

He was able to participate in the rodeo because he qualified at the rodeo held in Fallon, Nevada earlier this year where he took second place.

Walker said he participated in between 45 and 50 rodeos this year, and that next year, he will be competing in the 16 to 18 year old novice bull category.

He said that typically, money winners are in the top three places, but he was told that a check would be mailed to him-he’s unsure of the amount.

He is doing online learning through the ‘I Succeed’ program because he said it gives him the flexibility to work, which in turn enables him to make money to pay for entry fees.

Walker started riding sheep when he was 5, started riding steers at 7, and has been riding mini bulls since he was 9 or 10. He plans to compete in rodeo bull riding for as long as he’s able.
