Lumberjack & Titan Girls Play in District Tournament; Boys Up Next

The Council Girls Basketball team worked their way through the 2A District Tournament over the course of five games, but weren’t able to make state.

They beat Rimrock 53-25, and next lost a close game to Compass Charter 50-52. They went on to defeat Riverstone 51-15, Vision Charter 48-32 and met Compass Charter again with a final score of 65-43. This earned the girls a ticket to the state tournament play-in game where they met Butte County. They lost 31-63.

The Tri-Valley Titan girls were a #1 seed going into the 1A District tournament, earning a first round bye. In the second round they met and defeated Garden Valley (69-28). They lost to Salmon River (31-38) in the District Championship game. They then were able to re-group and beat Garden Valley again (41-32) to earn a seat as the district runner-up in the state play-in game against Carey. The girls lost a close game 36-37.

The Council Boys played Notus last Wednesday evening, winning 73-45. They earned a #2 seed and a first round bye. There first game is scheduled for the 19th at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of Garden Valley vs. Salmon River. The Tri-Valley Titan boys play Greenleaf on the 18th at 6:00 p.m..
