The Meadows Valley Community Center hosted a BBQ for all on Wednesday, May 21 with participation by the City of New Meadows and the New Meadows Youth Center’s Early Learning Foundation.

The Community Center hosted hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, broccoli salad, beans, and desserts. Giant Jenga, cornhole, and other games provided outdoor fun for all ages. Around 60 people attended the event.

Information tables were set with kids books, brochures, toys and toothbrushes for kids, and even sign ups for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program. Representatives from the Early Learning Foundation offered news about the New Meadows Youth Center and sign ups for updates, especially for those interested in working, attending, or volunteering at the daycare. Members of Central District Health, the West Central Mountains Economic Development Council, and the City all had something interesting to share. Progress pictures from the Youth Center were available for viewing. Tours of the Youth Center and an official open house and grand opening will be scheduled later this year.

All in all, the community enjoyed a great night to socialize and learn. The Community Center has some great events coming up. Their next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. The monthly BINGO Potluck is scheduled that evening with potluck at 5:00 p.m. and Bingo at 6:00 p.m. A Father’s Day Dance is planned for Thursday, June 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and a yard sale will take place on Saturday, June 28 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m..

The Meadows Valley Community Center is located at 102 N. Commercial Street in New Meadows.
