Alexis May
Alexis May has attended Meadows Valley School for 3 1/2 years now, coming from Eugene, OR. She has participated in sports and loves being outside in the summer. For her project, she chose the Study of Medicinal Herbs. Alexis has an interest in this subject because she used to make ‘tinctures’ with her mom when she was little. She wants to get the news out there that pharmaceuticals are not the only option. Sue Marchese was her choice for a mentor. Sue works for the juvenile probation dependent and in her free time she explores the outdoors and makes all natural medicines. Alexis and Sue spent time foraging and making tinctures and salves. Alexis presented a slide show to the Environmental Studies class showing step by step how to make Lewis and Clark salve and also explained its history. She also taught the medicinal properties of the salve and how it works. In the future, Alexis plans to take classes to become a real estate agent.
Asa Brusso
Asa Brusso works at C & M Lumber, has lived in New Meadows his whole life and has grown passionate about the land and what it provides. Asa also is passionate about heavy equipment and chose Heavy Equipment Maintenance & Upkeep for his senior project. The owner of DIGEARTH Excavation, Jonathan Prior, was Asa’s mentor. Asa has been successful at changing skid steer tracks, changing brake line hoses on dump trucks, learning the importance of greasing equipment, keeping the equipment clean and having proper fluid levels. Also, he learned that it is better to spend a little on maintenance rather than a lot on a breakdown. Asa has been inspired by the skills of his mentor. He completed his community service doing maintenance for Chapman Construction as well as DIGEARTH. Asa has no plans of leaving New Meadows and wants to be a heavy equipment operator after graduation.
Bradley Steiner
Bradley Steiner has been at Meadows Valley School since first grade. He loves football, skiing, hunting, fishing, riding his dirt bike, driving and fixing his pickup. Bradley works at All Pro Plumbing. He chose to become a volunteer firefighter as his senior project because he wants to better help the community he lives in. Fire Chief Doug Buys is his mentor. Bradley has done research on firefighting and becoming a firefighter and plans to go to training twice a month. For community service he went on a couple of emergency calls and he plans to clean and organize fire trucks. After graduation Bradley wants to continue as a Firefighter, take a plumbing course online at CWI and then go back to college for business.
Bryson Benton
Bryson Benton works at A&W and has attended Meadows Valley School since Kindergarten. He has been a member of Hope Squad, been in band and played sports. The senior project he chose was Youth Baseball. Bryson played baseball when he was younger and wanted to raise money for youth baseball in New Meadows. He thinks it’s important for teaching teamwork, making friends, and getting out of the house. Bryson chose Kimberley Bennett as his mentor. She is the owner of Miss Kitty’s Pizza & Such and has had many fundraisers at her business, all focused on kids. Kimberley also has been a softball/baseball mom and wants to help kids that want to play. On November 17, Bryson held a silent auction at Miss Kitty’s and was able to raise $1,951. This money will provide what is needed for 20 players for multiple years. In the future, Bryson wants to get a CDL, and work for Lake Shore Disposal, and maybe attend a college to get a welding certificate.
Jordyn White
Jordyn White has attended Meadows Valley School since pre-school, while being a role model for other students. She works at A&W and Chevron in New Meadows. She is the student body president, has been in sports, band, and the Hope Squad. Jordyn decided to raise money for a person in the community that is battling cancer for her senior project. She chose this because cancer has impacted her life personally. Her little brother has battled lymphoma twice. Once in 3rd grade and again in 6th grade. Jordyn chose an individual with a family member that is a cancer survivor as her mentor. Jordyn raised money by pledging points through volleyball games. Businesses and individuals donated money for each point her team made over the course of three games. On Senior Night, Jordyn had a pink-out with pink jerseys that she made and gym decorations which represented cancer awareness and she also gave a speech at the game. She was able to raise $2,500 for her cause. After graduation, Jordyn plans to be a military wife, have children and maybe attend a cosmetology or esthetics school. Mariah Rambo
Mariah Rambo has gone to Meadows Valley School all of her school years. Mariah is a barista at Starbucks in McCall. She loves volleyball, track and spending time with family and friends. She plays saxophone in band and is student body vice president. Mariah’s senior project is Suicide Prevention. She had a family member take his own life when she was 11 years old. She is choosing to heal from her past. Her mentor was Jada York, the leader of Hope Squad. Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer group that reduces youth suicide through education and peer intervention. Mariah showed a video about Hope Squad to all classes in school and did an interview with her brother who was also affected by the loss they experienced. After graduation, she plans to go through assistant manager training at Starbucks.
Joseph Padgett
Joseph Padgett, a lifelong attendee at Meadows Valley School, works at C & M Lumber. He has played football, basketball and golf, loves to snowmobile, hunt and fish. Joseph also likes to work on trucks and engines so he decided to rebuild a car motor for his senior project. A Suzuki Samurai 1.3L engine to be exact. He was successful with the help of his mentor, Brett Carpenter, the former shop and automotive teacher at MVS. For his community service, Joseph replaced parts and serviced vehicles for people. After graduation he wants to attend technical school and become a diesel mechanic.
