The Boardroom at Wilson’s in Council.

Bill Brown and Kim Bohlmann committed to buy The Boardroom at Wilson’s Lounge in the fall of 2020. They were then able to take operational control in January the following year. They are a full service bar and host events such as meetings and parties. You can bring your own food or your own caterer as well. They have pool tables, dartboards and all the typical amenities you would expect in a bar.

The location has been an establishment named ‘Wilson’s’ in some manner since forever it seems. Bill showed me a picture of a menu from the old Wilson’s Supper Club when Yvonne Smothers was the manager. The menu lists a steak sandwich for a $1.75. He would love a complete menu, as this one is damaged. If you happen to have one, reach out to him. Just don’t count on those prices coming back anytime soon.

Talking with Bill you learn real quick that he is proud to not only be able to keep a local establishment going for the community, but also to add features and services as well. Since purchasing the bar with Kim they have added an indoor smoking lounge as well as an outdoor patio in the back.

If darts are your thing, Bill tells me that they have leagues going on ‘all the time.’ He has three internet connected dart boards so you can play against folks from all over.

Bill strives to keep Wilson’s an engaged member of the community too. Wilson’s empties and rounds up the trash cans after the 4th of July Celebrations put on by the Chamber. They also setup the burn pits at the city park for the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

If Cribbage is your thing, Bill has about 300 of his Cribbage boards on display around the bar. He tells me has about 200 more in storage. There is also a large Cribbage board that folks can play on.

And of course, a bar like this wouldn’t be complete without man’s best friend. Bring your four legged friend, but please keep them on a leash.

The Boardroom at Wilson’s Lounge is open seven days a week and closes when business stops for the night. Sometimes this is 10:00 p.m., but 2:00 a.m. at the latest. Come see bartenders Mary Jane, Sarah and Devin and socialize. All three bartenders have years of experience from working previously at the Ace and other places. Don’t forget to wear a red shirt on Fridays to remember those soldiers currently deployed. If you do, they’ll surprise you with a small incentive.

Mary Jane works the bar at Wilson’s recently.
