MV FFA Signs Chapter Charter

Meadows Valley School has an official FFA Chapter! Twelve students traveled with Ag teacher Rachael Melad to the 94th annual Idaho FFA State Convention in Twin Falls from April 1-5. During the convention, they signed their official chapter charter with a roster of nineteen names.
After a long first day of travel and activities, some students were up bright and early for the College of Southern Idaho’s Livestock Judging Invitational.
The week was packed full of events including leadership and industry workshops, horse evaluation competition, conference sessions, a convention dance, and even a little tourism visiting Perrine Bridge and hiking nearby.
During the conference, the state officers delivered their retiring addresses and new officers were elected. Students gained inspiration and insight into career possibilities and future learning opportunities including hopes of one day becoming state officers. These Mountaineers grew in leadership and teamwork skills as well as personal responsibility.
Some careers and activities the students noted interest in include drone pilot (to survey crops), environmental engineer, and prepared public speaking.
A grant from the Valley-Adams County Farm Bureau helped make this trip possible. The new chapter also was able to purchase their own jackets representing “Meadows Valley FFA”.
Students continue to learn and prepare for the future. They are looking forward to the Idaho FFA Career Development Events at the beginning of June at the University of Idaho’s Moscow campus.
Congratulations to Meadows Valley FFA!
