The beautiful new reader board at Dorsey Warr Memorial Park.

The Meadows Valley School Board of Trustees met on the evening of April 9. 2024. Chairperson Barb Dixon was absent due to illness. Jeffrey Luff managed the meeting.

Superintendent/Principal Dee Fredrickson reported that enrollment is up from last month and behavior has been good. Even on a trip to CWI, students were respectful and were the picture of good citizens.

ISAT testing starts April 15th for 3rd grade through 8th grade, 10th and 11th grades. In the future ISAT’s may be used for college entrance tests which will give students incentive to do well.

Training for staff will be starting soon on the new learner management system.

In sports, track is going well. Golf is struggling since they don’t have a coach right now. Brandy Padgett, the Athletic director, has taken on a lot of that responsibility but is needing help since she also has special education responsibilities.

Dee’s report also showed that door locks and lighting are being repaired in the school building. House Bill 521 is being watched since it would give the school funding for facilities.

Lastly, the new reader board is up at the park and works and looks great.

Under action items a Budget Hearing date was set for June 11, 2024 and the High School Graduation Requirements Policy 2410 was changed and approved.

The next meeting will be May 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.
