Meadows Valley School’s Track & Field team updated the athletic record board this month with two new school records. Sophomore Natalie “Rose” Ruth added her record in pole vault. Junior Jackie Steiner entered a new event and school record with javelin.

Javelin was introduced as an exhibition event in 2024 and was added to the state meet program for this 2025 season. Idaho is the 22nd state to approve javelin for high school track and field. It has been excluded in the past due to safety concerns.

Steiner, who also competed in discus, ended the season as a district finalist and school record holder competing in javelin for the first time this year. Her personal record throw was 78’3” recorded at the Kamiah meet in April where she took 5th overall. At District 2A finals in May, Steiner took 8th overall with a throw of 74’10” qualifying her for state.

Ruth updated the school record board with a 9 foot personal and school best height in pole vault. She also competed this season in the 100m and 400m. Ruth took first place at District 2A finals and went on to a 4th place finish at the state track competition.

Congratulations Mountaineers!
