Open House at Marymount Hermitage

Sister Beverly at the Marymount Hermitage in Mesa is eager to share with the public the Hermitage’s newest building - the Jubilee House. She will be hosting an open house on Sept. 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day to share this special new building with the public.
About 18 months ago the idea for this Jubilee House started to grow into a fundraising effort, then a construction site and has now culminated in a new building that greatly expands the Hermitage’s ability to host retreatants. It is beautifully situated with large windows facing Council Mountain to the east and Cuddy Mountain to the northwest.
As Sister Beverly showed me around the Jubilee House her attention to detail was evident as she showed me from room to room explaining the decor and showing off the finished work that local contractors completed. Each room is dedicated to a saint and has a color scheme to match.
One wing has 4 bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. The other wing has a larger suite for those wishing to stay longer than average. This wing also has two parlors where guests can study and pray in solitude.
Between these two wings there is a large kitchen, a dining room and a great room. The great room has large windows that let you enjoy the view to the north and east as well as plenty of comfortable furniture for retreatants to enjoy as they pray and spend time here.
The kitchen where guests can store and prepare their food has two refrigerators, a large window over the sink looking to the west and a beautiful black quartz countertop on the island.
Sister Beverly told me that they raised about a million dollars to build the Jubilee House and that she used as much local labor as possible to build it. She is very grateful for the local contractors and tradesmen who put their effort into completing this large undertaking.
The purpose behind this new building is to be able to host more retreatants, and more specifically, married couples as they seek a place for prayer, solitude and silence. The jubilee house greatly expands the Hermitage’s capacity to host these visitors and is a great addition for the Hermitage and the area.
All are welcome to spend time at Marymount Hermitage. Visit www.marymount-hermitage.org for more information.
