The Esch narrow-transport no-till drill pivots from a 12-foot planting width to an 8-foot width for towing down the road. Contact Adams SWCD for information about renting the drill: (208) 253-4668.

Farmers, ranchers, timberland owners and other landowners in Adams County are invited to an ag producers open house on March 13th to learn about technical assistance and financial incentives to improve their operations.

Representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Adams Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about programs available to landowners.

“NRCS works with agriculture producers to improve their operations through a variety of programs and services,” said Ron Brooks, resource conservationist with the NRCS Weiser office. “We encourage landowners to drop by to learn more about our programs and get answers to resource conservation questions.”

Cost-share programs can help landowners address a number of issues, Brooks said. These range from enhancing soil health and reducing erosion, to upgrading irrigation infrastructure, fencing, and stockwater facilities, to reducing fuel loads on timberland, and improving energy efficiency in farming operations.

The ag producers open house runs from 2:30 to 5:30 on Wednesday afternoon, March 13th. It will be held at the ASWCD office in the University of Idaho Extension building at 203 South Galena Street in Council, just south of the Council post office.

“This is a free, drop-in event, with no appointment needed,” said Wendy Green, chair of the Adams SWCD. “We’re excited for farmers to come learn about the no-till drill we have for rent that can reduce their input costs while helping restore soil health.”

The Adams SWCD is one of fifty conservation districts in Idaho whose purpose is to promote voluntary, non-regulatory resource conservation through education and technical and financial assistance.

For more information about the ag open house or NRCS programs, contact Ron Brooks at ron.brooks@usda.gov. NRCS is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender.
