Parade and BBQ to Benefit Midvale Swimming Pool

If you want to see the annual Midvale Fourth of July Parade, don’t be late! It may be short but it is full of bikes, maybe a politician, pickups and plenty of the local fire department vehicles. Lineup to be in the parade will be at 11 a.m. up on School Road. When everyone is ready it will travel past the school, across the bridge and down Main Street to the park. Alan and Varina Pickett have been named this year’s parade Grand Marshalls.
At the park will be the World’s Best BBQ for just $8 a plate. Some desserts and salads would be welcome as a donation from community members. If you have a lawn chair it might be wise to bring it. Last year most of the people stayed afterwards to visit with each other in the shade.
At 1:00 p.m. there will be a duck raffle in the swimming pool. The ticket buckets are out at four locations: The Country Coffee Cabin, The Midvale Mercantile, Loveland’s General Store and Blake’s. This year they are selling 500 ducks: $5 for one or $10 for three.
The first duck plucked from the pool gets first choice. Prizes are sponsored by: Larry H Miller Boise, Weiser Classic Candy, Scentsy- Kristin Nolte, Kind2All Honey and Weiser Tractor Supply.
After the raffle the pool will be open for free swimming until 7:00 p.m. In the park will be bounce houses and other activities to enjoy.
Midvale Swimming Pool is a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax deductible. The address for the pool is PO Box 4, Midvale ID 83645. For many decades the pool has operated on donations, fund raisers, and pool passes. For updates on pool activities go to their Facebook page.
Current lifeguards are Gideon Hooper now on his third season, Emma Mikek, Addie Barton and Lexi Gay. Pool board officers are president Chelsey Doggett, vice president Christy Graham, secretary Laci Steed and treasurer Dorothy Bayes. The pool manager is Jessica Mikek who, along with her handy husband, Jake, keep the pool open and the lifeguards on duty.
