Ruth Qualifies for State

Natalie Ruth earned a first place finish and a ticket to the State Track Meet in pole vault at the District Varsity 2A Finals this past Friday, May 9. Ruth vaulted for 9’, a foot higher than the second place finisher. Coach Katie Wright expressed excitement noting this was an increase of 1.5 feet for Ruth from her last personal record! The sophomore’s vault height has steadily increased over the season catching highs around 7 and 7.5 feet for the last month. Ruth also ran a PR of 14.25 seconds in the 100 meter.

Other standout PRs for the Mountaineers included Casen White’s 1.6kg discus throw of 79’7” and Dakota Larimore’s 1kg discus PR of 48’, an 8 inch increase from her last PR.

The state track meet takes place this weekend at Middleton High School.
