In the middle of “Mud Season” there are a myriad of great projects coming together in Meadows Valley. Here’s just a few:

The City has declared next week, April 8–12, as the Week of the Young Child. The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. This is our second year of planning events each day after school for children up to 8 years old and we will be recognizing the teachers who work with those children. Local organizations have stepped up to be involved!

As the snow melts away, it’s time for Youth Sports! Kids wishing to be involved can register at City Hall. Coaches are still needed. The Parks and Rec Committee is planning on a great season and will be scheduling a work day to prepare the baseball field for play.

And, also for the kids, our summer sack lunch program will begin again in June. This is a joint effort between the Meadows Valley Public Library, the Meadows Valley Community Center, City of New Meadows, New Meadows Food Bank and the Meadows Valley Community Foundation and local donors. No child should go hungry!

There’s a new face at the front desk of City Hall. Stop in and welcome Dianne Hunter to our community and to the City’s awesome team!

The City’s water project is almost done. We will be planning another opportunity for locals to tour the new facility in the park. Part of the project was a generator at the booster station so water will be available during power outages. The project is one we can all be proud of!

People in the city limits can assist with the ongoing road maintenance by moving any vehicles or trailers that are sitting in the road. Doorhangers will be handed out giving 48 hours to move the vehicle. Failure to do so will result in a citation and possible towing of the vehicle/trailer. Dust abatement will be applied in June, so we have a short window to get the roads ready. Thank you for your help!

There’s so much more happening – a contest for a mural on City Hall, the Saturday Farmer’s Market in the park, the construction of our very own local Childcare Center, building of the new skate park and…..the list goes on. You can stay informed with our Meadows Valley Monday weekly email newsletter. Sign up at City Hall or call (208) 347-2171. Also, sign up for our text alerts so you get city reminders and notifications.
