Purse Project volunteers and donated purses in 2023.

For 6 years, Elsa Freeman, previous owner of the Midvale Mercantile, has sponsored the Purse Project. So many people volunteered and donated to make this a successful project. Elsa is no longer able to sponsor this, however. Suzanne Smith, will be taking it over so that it can continue it’s good work. Suzanne is from Cambridge. She has been a huge part of it’s success in the past and will work with Rose Advocates in Weiser to continue the project.

What is the Purse Project? Gently used purses are donated and filled with simple necessities for abused and battered women. They are distributed by Rose Advocates to their clients.

With the cold weather comes the need to care for those who don’t have some of our most basic needs. The ‘Purse Project’ has returned once more with the goal of providing purses, stuffed with items that many disadvantaged women need.

We will plan on getting together to fill the purses and distributing them before Christmas. To donate call or text Suzanne @ (208) 870-9028 or Rose advocates (208) 414-1231. Please indicate that your donation is for the Purse Project. If you can’t provide items, we will accept monetary donations which will be used to fill the bags with missing items.

If you have any questions, please call Suzanne at (208) 870-9028. We would accept donations from individuals and local businesses. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Gently used or new purses or totes may be filled with:

Kleenex, small water bottle, hand sanitizer, miniature sizes of lotion, body wash, warm socks, hat & scarf, mittens, snack bars, hand warmers, chapstick, hygiene products, personal care products, costume jewelry.
