What’s Coming to the Meadows Valley Library
The Meadows Valley Library’s May and June schedule is full of interesting activities including book club, story time, and classes. Summer hours have begun and the library is open Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The library will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
Last Wednesday, May 7 the book discussion group held their monthly gathering and discussed The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. After conversing, members enjoyed a great treat for the woods - s’mores. The group is open to new members and meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m..
A community health needs assessment focus group is working to help the Western Idaho Community Health Collaborative gather information and find solutions for community needs and health issues. Community members are encouraged to participate by visiting https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8168288/TreasureValley and taking the survey online. A version in Spanish is also available at this link. The survey is confidential and short. Up to 30 participants are eligible to win a $20 gift card as a thank you. The survey will close on May 31. Paper copies can be requested by emailing survey@metop.io.
Two educational classes are being offered in May, both taught by Julie Good. The first is a Non-Profit class teaching best practices for non-profit boards on Thursday, May 15 at 4:00 p.m. Good will also teach a class on the basics of using QuickBooks Online. This class is scheduled for Thursday, May 22 at 4:00 p.m. Both classes are free and open to people age 16 and up. The next library Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 19. An executive session will be held starting at 2:00 p.m. followed by the regular 3:00 p.m. meeting which is open to the public.
On Saturday, May 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Friends of the Library book sale will take place on the library lawn. Hundreds of fantastic used books, audio books, and DVDs will be available at a bargain. Contact the library to volunteer to help or receive more information.
Beginning June 5 the Summer Reading Program will begin, offering free fun for all ages. This year’s theme is Color Our World. Weekly story time programs will be offered and the first 100 kids to sign up will receive a free goody bag. Adults can sign up to participate for Summer Reading prizes as well. Visit the library to sign up and see what else is new.
