By Mayor’s Proclamation, the City of Cambridge has become one of a handful of towns in the State of Idaho recognized as a JustServe City.

In Monday night’s monthly city council meeting, attended by JustServe representatives from Cambridge, New Meadows, Weiser, and Payette, the mayor and council received the prestigious award. A beautifully-framed certificate and other designation items were presented to Mayor Loveland and City Clerk Sandra McKee.

Sandra was instrumental in preparing and submitting the application to regional JustServe officials prior to the award. The proclamation was voted on and approved by the mayor and city council in last month’s meeting.

By proclamation, JustServe Cities pledge themselves to ongoing volunteerism in their communities by helping to provide volunteer opportunities and support for them. The JustServe program offers free postings on a worldwide internet platform and other benefits that promote the success of cities and communities.

Cambridge owns a special legacy of volunteerism, established over the years through the efforts of The Cambridge Commercial Club, the Cambridge Museum Board, the Cambridge Rodeo Association, and especially the Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance. Many other groups including The Weiser River Trail, local churches and the Cambridge Schools have helped build and maintain a beautiful and thriving community.

JustServe’s efforts are partnered with the America250 initiative which has set a lofty goal of per-forming 250,000 hours of volunteer service in the State of Idaho by July 4th. At last count, more than half of those hours have already been performed. Volunteers statewide are urged to report their hours via the website idahokindness.org.

Any non-profit group or organization wishing to avail itself of the free opportunity to list their needs on the JustServe.org website may visit the site, register and follow the instructions provided. If assistance is required you may contact your local JustServe Representatives, Don and Betty Dopf, who will help you and answer your questions. They may be reached at ddopf427@gmail.com.

If you have some time and energy to expend for the benefit of your local non-profits, you may search the JustServe.Org website under Cambridge ID, USA and enter your search area within a five-mail radius.

Your participation through volunteerism will help insure a continued quality of life that we all enjoy in small-town Idaho.
