Certain Things Roll Down Hill

Janice Cawyer
April 1, 2026

My next project is to rebuild the membership database. I think those of us who intended to remain members at seniors have had plenty of time to renew, as we are now in the second quarter of 2026. Please note that anyone who hasn’t paid dues for the past two years will be removed from the Membership list. If you haven’t sent in your membership information and still want to be part of us, please plan to either stop by or mail the forms back to me.

If you want to retain your membership and are short on funds, please stop by or call me at (208) 257-3358 or (208) 550-1632. I still need a new registration form filled out. DHS (Department of Homeland Security) now requires an attestation of Citizenship date on your registration. Because we are operating under the Older Americans Act (a federal program) and receive some federal funding, we are now required to have this information. While wealth does not trickle down, s**t does; everyone is CY/TA. (C=Cover, Y= Your, T= Their; I think you can figure out the last one).

Sorry if I have offended anyone, but sometimes I’m amazed at the stupidity I have to deal with.

On to more delightful topics! Starting on Wednesday, April 1st, we are raffling off a $60 gift certificate to the Coffee Cabin in Midvale. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held on Wednesday, April 29th, right after lunch. You can purchase tickets here at the senior center on most days of the week.

April 1st is when we switch gears and start doing Tai Chi. The classes will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sandra Nudo is in charge of them, and if you would like more information, you may call her at (208) 550-2138.

On Thursday, April 2nd, we have Bingo scheduled from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Refreshments are provided, and a good time is had by all. See you there!

On Friday, April 3rd, our dietitian, Kelee Hansen, President and Owner of Sands Nutrition, will be here for our yearly compliance visit and will also be conducting a short nutrition program. Come join us and get your burning nutrition questions answered!

It’s Menu Time: Friday, April 3rd: Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Garlic Bread, Garden Salad, Mixed Fruit, and an Ice Cream Bar for dessert. Wednesday, April 8th: Hot Pork Sandwich with homemade bread, Mashed potatoes and gravy, Applesauce, Mixed vegetables, Green Salad, Wheat Roll, and Peach Crisp for dessert. Friday, April 10th: Nudo’s Mexican Fiesta Casserole, Refried Beans, Green Salad, Corn Chips, and Peach Crisp.

Have a great weekend, everyone. It appears we might just get some warmer days to enjoy!
