I haven’t yet heard of anyone wanting to be considered for our Board of Directors. If the worst comes to the worst, the board could appoint someone to the position of Director at the first board meeting of 2026.
Of course, there are other options to consider, such as trimming the number of board members to five instead of seven, but that couldn’t be implemented until after the annual meeting in December of 2026, because it would require a change to our bylaws. In a perfect world, there would always be a few people willing to serve as board members to guide the center.
Please rethink the reasons you don’t want to serve and instead consider the benefits you could bring to the Cambridge, Midvale, Goodrich, Senior Center. The terms are for three years, and you can run for two consecutive terms. Please let someone know of your interest by Tuesday, December 9th. Our Annual Meeting is on Wednesday, December 10, at 12:30 p.m..
Before the annual meeting, we have two events planned. On Thursday, December 4th, we are having our monthly Bingo game from 6 to 8:00 p.m. It’s open to all ages and can be a healthy night out for the whole family. There’s no school on Friday, so it’s a fun night for the kids, and you will get home early enough that parents can still get to bed in time for a good night’s sleep.
Then on Saturday, December 6th, from 3 to 6:00 p.m., we are having our Fifth annual Cookie and Candy Extravaganza Fundraiser. We will be selling homemade cookies and candy by the pound. It will be the last fundraiser of 2025. There are sign-up sheets for helping out and for what you are bringing. It’s a great time for finding gifts for friends and neighbors, or just for your family. Please stop by and check out our goodies and share a cup of coffee, tea, or Hot Chocolate.
Our December Food Pantry is on Wednesday, December 17th, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., and our Foot Clinic will be on Monday, December 22nd. And yes, I double checked the dates.
Menu’s: Friday, December 5th: Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Refried Beans, Peaches, Green Salad, and Bread Pudding. Wednesday, December 10th: Hot Pork Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, peas, Applesauce, Garden Salad, and Strawberry Poke Cake. Friday, December 12th: Sloppy Joe’s, Oven-Fried Potatoes, Mixed Fruit, and Dessert.
This wraps it up for another week. Stay well, but if you do catch a bug, stay home until you’re no longer contagious. If you want a meal while you are ill, and you’re not too far out of town, I can deliver one to you. Please call me at the center before 11:00 a.m. at (208) 257-3358.
