I’ve decided that this will be my last column of 2025. I need some time to recharge. And since we won’t be open at all during Christmas week, I’ll be out of the loop until the first week of January. It’s a present, I’m giving myself.
I will catch you up on what is happening until then: Wednesday, December 17th, is the date of our Christmas dinner here at the center. We are serving Baked Ham, Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole, Green Beans, Pasticio Salad, Wheat Roll, and Pecan Pie.
It is also the date of our Food Pantry, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. In addition to the food we were able to procure, we have $25 gift cards from Albertsons, available. On Friday, December 19th, it’s Pizza for lunch.
The following week, our Foot Clinic will be on Monday, December 22nd. The center will be closed from December 24 through December 25th. We will open again on Wednesday, December 31st, for Lunch at noon.
Our next Bingo Game will be on Thursday evening, January 8th, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join us. There will be a Baked Potato Bar fundraiser on Friday, January 16th, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m..
Menu: Wednesday, December 31st: Oven Fried Chicken, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Chicken gravy, Coleslaw, Corn, Wheat Roll, Apricots, and Chocolate chip Cookies. Friday, January 2nd: Taco Salad with a variety of toppings, Corn chips, peaches, and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Wednesday, January 7th: Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and gravy, Salad, Broccoli /Cauliflower Vegetables, Apricots, and Banana Bars.
I will be back to writing my column in a week or so. Until then, don’t sweat the small stuff; ask yourself, is it more important to be right or be happy? There are so many things that aren’t worth disturbing one’s peace of mind for. Take a few deep breaths, exhale slowly, and let whatever is bothering you go. Just my take on the holidays! Merry Christmas, everyone!
